Question 2
Why do you do what you do?
What motivates you?
I love working with people, I love telling their stories. I guess what motivates me is my own trauma with having my picture taken. I have never liked the way I looked in photographs. I remember when I was a senior, my mom took me to a professional studio and I spent half the day in a photoshoot. I had so much fun! But when I got the pictures back out of hundreds of photos I hated all but 2!!! I was heartbroken! So my motivation is to never have that happen to any of my clients. I want the people I work with to not only have a wonderful time but to fall in love with themselves when they see their photos.

Question 3
Where did your passion come from?
Like I said before, my passion to help my clients comes from my own trauma but I have also found I have a need to create! I love collaborating on a photoshoot with clients, bringing in their passions, their stories to the project. We create something new and unique to them. They see themselves as unique, beautiful, and meaningful. The more of themselves they give the better the images in the end.

Question 5
Tell us about your business.
How does it work?
I am a photographer based out of St. George UT. I create custom photoshoots for my clients that empower, inspire and elevate their lives! For example one of my latest clients was a teenage girl who tried to commit suicide a few months ago. She has since done a lot of healing and creating a strong community around herself. We discussed her healing process and wanted to celebrate her strength and rebirth. I designed a custom dress for her, we discussed elements of her healing like journaling and meditation, and incorporated those into her shoot. I turned her into a Japanese Kintsugi piece by painting her scars gold, helping her see that the struggles she has overcome has made her stronger, unique and valuable. We created an album and wall art to help her remember this event with hope, acceptance and gratitude rather than shame.
My clients don't need such extreme life circumstances to justify a photoshoot! Everyone needs to love what they see in their photos and I help people do that.

Question 6
What has been the hardest part of your journey so far?
Oh man!!! I don't think there is enough room in this newsletter! Learning photography isn't hard, learning to pose someone isn't hard, learning to edit isn't hard. The hardest part is knowing my worth and sticking to it. I am really good at what I do, and I'm not bragging. I have spent many hours honing my craft. But I get in my own way EVERYDAY!! I overthink and get analysis paralysis. I get nervous before networking and think no one will be interested in what I do, so why even bother? I allow myself to get distracted by things that will not make my ship go faster and then of course it does not and then I think well maybe I shouldn't be doing this and I should get a "real" job. The hardest part of the journey has been me, and overcoming my self sabotage, getting out of my own way, and sticking to boundaries and not getting distracted. What is the saying " starting a business is cheaper than therapy?" Having this business has been very "therapeutic" for me.

Question 7
What does healing the world look like to you?
I think we are much too hard on ourselves. We are too judgmental. We are our own worst critics. I know because I do this to myself ALL.THE.TIME!!! One way I can help others heal is by helping them see their own value. I help them see beyond the "blemishes", and see what's really worthwhile about themselves. Once we have more love for ourselves we have more love to give to others and the ripples of influence grow from there.
