Question 2

Why do you do what you do?
What motivates you?
Where did your passion come?

That's kind of a layered question. I got into this business I suppose because my husband is a therapist. I have always really valued the services that mental healthcare workers and social workers. When he went into practice, he wanted to continue the social work side of it and make sure that people who really needed mental health care were able to have access to it for their insurance and so we always had that planned on doing that [credentialing process]. Then it took about half hour for him to see that "this is too hard, I can’t do this". I don’t have a job, I have several other work projects, but I had the time. As I got involved I realized credentialing is really super involved and it’s in a crazy process. so I figured it out. I found a mentor, she’s been doing for a long time and she helped me work through it. Once I was done was like, "OK now I have all this knowledge, now what. It was actually my sister in law who suggested that I market this. I think that there is been a weird stigma against people receiving medical healthcare and getting therapy. It is definitely changing in the last decade especially and I really really value a therapist. I think everybody should be able to have access if they need it. So my passion comes from being able to from the practical standpoint. I’m not a therapist, but I can help other people, I can help Therapists to do their job. It's not necessarily the work itself I have passion for, It's therapists being able to do their work that I am passionate about.

Question 3

What did you build in Soul Seed Academy?

I can be scatter brained. ADHD brains struggle to focus and what the course helped me to do is basically break it down, step-by-step, and streamline it and take away the big picture overwhelm! So if I need a website and I think, "I need all these things", I’ll shut down because like I don’t know what to do. I was able to basically fill in information and Soul Seed helped to build a website for me, that looks awesome. They also helped me get my ducks in a row so I could launch a business. And I didn’t have to do every step on my own with just my own willpower.

Question 4

What does healing the world look like to you?

That’s a hard question to answer, but I think through kindness and compassion. I think facilitating people who have the training to do their jobs so they don’t get bogged down by the minutia of insurance stuff. I'm helping them. People go into therapy to be compassionate and to help heal people, and so I am the facilitator for that. I am a performer, this is how I am doing that. I can take this part off their hands so they can do [theirs].

Question 5

What has been the hardest part of your business journey?

Creating a business is that is not my language and I was getting really overwhelmed by everything I have to do. It seems like it’s such a grown-up, big, adult person thing to do. That's why I did soul seed, I thought, "if I don’t do this then I'll never do this on my own, I would just casually support therapists." Also getting out of my own way. That was that was what was the hardest part, just getting overwhelmed and I’m not feeling like I was grown up enough to do this. I am still working on it.

Question 7

Any last-minute thoughts?

Oh man, I want to tell therapists, although they can theoretically get credentialed all by themselves, I’ve already been working with people who did that and I’ve had to go back and fix mistakes. Some things have taken months longer because they had no way of knowing those mistakes. If you don’t know, you don’t know. So it does seem like an expense out-of-pocket, but if you start it the right way, you'll save yourself time and money in the long run.
