Question 1
Tell us a little bit about you.
Where are you from?
The West feels like home. I was born in Southern Idaho, raised in Colorado and now I live in Orem, Utah. I have lived in California, Arizona, and Illinois but love being close to the snow-covered mountains.
My parents are wonderful, they met as a rodeo couple, she was a rodeo queen, and he was a bull rider. We grew up on a small farm with horses, farm animals, and chores. I married young and have five beautiful children, three boys, twins, a girl, and a boy. I had the twins on Father's Day after my 10th high school reunion where one of my friends twirled me on the dance floor and that night I went into labor.

Question 2
Why do you do what you do?
What motivates you?
In 2009 I had a strong urgent impression to go back to Colorado and publish my parent’s and grandparent’s life stories. After a year of documenting my mom and dad’s life, my father unexpectedly had a stroke and passed away within 48 hours. It was a shock and hard, but all his stories were captured, and photos rescued.
I realized each person must write their own life story before it is too late. I give people permission to tell their story and help them to honor their journey and share their life story. To help them appreciate their challenges and victories. To feel beautiful peace when they share their legacy with their family.

Question 3
Where did your passion come from?
My passion started with loving stories of my ancestors of my family. I have always been interested in family stories and research into family history. I gathered stories and researched our family tree for years only knowing names, and disappointed there were no stories. I was determined and volunteered at a family history center and found lots of incredible stories. We live in Nauvoo Illinois by a historical site and found 12 properties of my ancestors and I was hooked.
My husband was an anchor man and had a professional video camera. The summer of 1988 we videoed my mother and father about their life story, and they bought a camera and videoed my grandparents about their life.

Question 4
What did you build in Soul Seed Academy?
I found Soul Seed Academy when both of our businesses were just starting out. I attended one of the first retreats with a friend and knew they would be an impactful part of my journey. Over a year later I had a struggling website, and my marketing was poor and nonexistent. I came back to another retreat and knew that Soul Seed Academy was an important next step. Impressed with their thorough business program and that they support my strengths in such a caring professional way. Sarah and each person I have worked with comes with such a high-quality talent that it is undeniable.
During this time, I had serious health challenges and my son and mother passed away. They made accommodations and kept working with me until my company website looked gorgeous and had so many business assets that launched my business in a big way. Now my books are on Amazon and my marketing videos look great. Every piece was so strategically placed to help me succeed. My logo is incredible and everything they touch is gold.

Question 5
Tell us about your business.
How does it work?
As a life story coach and founder of Call to Story I help people publish their life story. Walking each person through a five-day challenge sets a foundation to publish their life story. Collecting photos, completing their timeline to find the best stories in their life jump starts the process in a powerful way. My books and eBooks create an easy quick system to complete your stories. Each one of my books easily lead them through the 60 Stories in 90 Days Guide, 60 Stories Timeline System, 60 Photos in 6 Days Challenge, and 60 Stories in 90 Days book and Workbook all support their goal of sharing their best stories with their family.
Do you know that 98% of people say they have a book inside them they want to write but less than 1% ever get it published. I want to change that statistic with what is the most important book they could ever write and that is their life story. Studies show sharing family stories makes your family more resilient to bounce back from challenges. My clients say they feel peace and know they have given their family their most valuable gift.

Question 6
What has been the hardest part of your journey so far?
The hardest part of my journey is being vulnerable enough to share my stories with the world. I am not a person who likes a lot of attention or to share my personal life. This has taken me way out of my comfort zone and over the edge. I share my life stories so you will share yours. People always ask, “How do you share the hard stories?” I have plenty and it is not easy, but they are so important. If you only share the cleaned-up life stories with no challenges your children and grandchildren will feel in utter despair that their life is so hard and not know how to find their way through life. Share your weaknesses and heartaches and how you survived them so they will be able to bounce back and be strong too. Our world needs a secret weapon, and this is it. Share your faith, love, and hope so you and your family feel peace.

Question 7
What does healing the world look like to you?
I work with many people who have a terminal disease or onset of dementia and children of aging parents wanting to rescue their parents stories. I see the great loss and emptiness of losing their parents and grandparents and all the family stories that would comfort them during this time. The beautiful memories, expressions of love and advice to navigate through this tough world can still be part of your life when you leave your life story for your family. Healing means leaving the most valuable memories with your family so they will not feel alone. They will hear your voice, feel your love and guidance will continue years after you are gone.

Question 8
Any last-minute thoughts?
My last-minute thoughts, DO NOT WAIT! There is no better time than now. Someday will never come if you do not start now. After my father passed, I traveled hundreds of miles and recorded the life stories of my children. A few years later my oldest son was gone. It hurt a lot but at least I have his words, sense of humor, love, and wisdom to comfort me. Actually, I believe our relationships with our family can continue after they pass but that is another story for another day. I am writing a new book this year “Ancestor Echoes.”
