Question 1
Tell us a little bit about you.
Where are you from?
My name is Kathrine Parnell. I am happily married to my best friend and together we share seven amazing kids and two incredible grandchildren. My career in the world of social work took an interesting turn eleven years ago, when I opened A New View Counseling and Psychological Services. I had previously been working full-time as a hospital social worker and I struggled to find therapists that understood Autism that I could refer to my patients. So, I thought, "Why not me?" I opened my practice thinking of it as a side gig that would cover its' own costs – years later, A New View is now in two states with four offices and nearly fifty employees.

Question 2
Why do you do what you do?
What motivates you? Where did your passion come from?
When I launched my company, I had no idea what it would look like a decade later. Thousands of lives have been changed and literally hundreds of lives have been saved as a result of the work we do. I started the practice because I saw a need and that same motivation keeps us growing today. Not only are we focused on the communities we serve, we are committed to ensuring that practices in communities nationwide stay open to provide accessible and approachable mental health care to those in need.

Question 3
What did you build in Soul Seed Academy?
My time with Soul Seed Academy began because Sarah Asay and I were in a business leadership program together and she noticed that I was burning the candle at both ends. I quickly learned how much of an asset the Soul Seed team was for my growing company. Soul Seed Academy helped me put SOPs in place and develop the infrastructure we needed to ensure balls weren't getting dropped and we could continue to provide exceptional care through a phase of growth.

Question 5
What has been the hardest part of your journey so far?
Our work isn't easy. In fact, it has one of the highest rates of burnout in any professional industry. We do everything we can to support our team members through consistent policy, supportive environments and transparent systems of care. But, the most difficult part of my job are the limitations I have due to available capital and the limitations of my own time and energy.
