Question 1
Tell us a little bit about you.
Where are you from?
I am from Utah I grew up in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and lived around there until I had my first child. We moved out of state for a couple of years and I gave birth in Norway. We eventually came back and we are now settled in Layton, Utah
My background is in social work with a bachelors in communication and worked as a social worker for 5 years.
In my birth scenarios, I came to find doula work. Honestly, it is funny how similar it is to social work, just kind of a different niche.
I still get to interact with people and families and I love that everyone is so unique and I get to teach. I’m drawn to helping people and sharing information. So if I learn something and find something that changes my life, no matter what it is, I naturally want to share that with other people in an effort to help them as well.

Question 2
Why do you do what you do? What motivates you? Where did your passion come from?
I think with birth work specifically, I gained a connection to my body and gained confidence that I didn’t know was possible. I don’t think that having an unmedicated birth is the only way to have that, I just was surprised at how much learned to trust in my body as well as my intuition.
I think that passion kind of just came through, asking “How can I help people gain that confidence and trust in their body as well because it goes so much further than birth?”
When people talk about having medication, I am not opposed to anything like that but to me, it’s not about the effect that comes from medication and scare tactics. There’s so much more to gain in understanding your body that comes from an unmedicated birth or at least being educated and empowered enough to make your own decisions. It’s that passion that drives me.

Question 3
What did you build in Soul Seed Academy?
I think I’ve gained a big networking pool with Soul Seed and resources.
Really the big picture is I probably gain the confidence and the reality that what I dream about and want is possible and I can start taking steps toward that now. I don't need to wait for anything
That‘s probably the biggest mind shift I’ve gotten from Soul Seed
They kind of facilitate that by connecting you to lots of people
Even in basic marketing, I can go ask my questions and get answers
I feel like I could ask anyone in that group anything and then you’ll find it.
There’s no reason to wait. I can start making progress now.

Question 4
Tell us about your business.
How does it work?
I work with couples who are pregnant and are looking to calm their overwhelm around birth and prepare for birth. After a free consultation, if they decide to hire me, I do prenatal visits and help them work on their birth plan, and mental, emotional, and physical preparation for birth.
I’m there throughout the labor to help them and their partner with whatever they need for the birth and to help navigate big decisions. Then I do a visit after to help them in the transition into postpartum.

Question 5
What has been the hardest part of your journey so far?
I think just learning how to run a business
As I said, I have the skill set to be a social worker. In college was learning to interact with people and relate to people who weren’t like me. Going into people's homes and being on call, none of that was new to me
However, learning how to put myself out there has been difficult. This is a career, I have something to give, and I can talk about it. There was a lot of hesitancy at the beginning and now I am in a place where I can talk about this and this is what I am doing.
It’s a little out of my comfort zone to run a business and to try and market and to work all the time on getting clients. That’s definitely been the hardest for me. A big reason why I turned to Soul Seed Academy, I’ve never had any sort of business training. I’ve never run a business myself.

Healing the world is people trusting themselves. People have access to gain knowledge and information and through that, they can make the best decision for them regardless of what anyone else is doing.

Question 7
Any last-minute thoughts?
Clients can find me on Instagram and Facebook and they can reach out to me there through direct messages or I have a website that has a form that they fill out and then we schedule a time to meet and see if we are a good fit. And if so then we move forward.
